Poco a poco vas lejos / Little by little you go far
Popping in for our March & April update! We certainly live in interesting times! Humanity has never been here before…to say that we, as a human family have been challenged by the Corona Virus would be an understatement.
In March the team had several events scheduled both domestically and internationally (Madrid, Spain on the 16th). And, just like the rest of the world, we were ‘sheltered in place”, while most of the screenings were cancelled.
Our highly anticipated screening of "Into the Light/Hacia la luz" scheduled for the 29th to the local Colorado community through Mile Hi Church in Denver was put on hold until a future date. The Showing was to be followed by a filmmakers discussion with Dr. Roger Teel (featured in the documentary) highlighting the metaphysical dimensions presented in the film; exploring "multiple dimensions of reality. - and "What is it like to live in two worlds".
We were excited though that on April 2nd, "Hacia la luz" was the opening night film of XicanIndi Film Festival out of SuTeatro in Denver which went virtual this year. A panel discussion utilizing Zoom and Facebook Live followed, which included Hortensia Soriano joining us from Miami and David and Beverly.
The discussion included the sense of loss and displacement that the film explores and its relevance to our current experience with the Coronavirus pandemic (an exile from our lives as we knew it). And, how we can never go back to what was; and reframing our lives in light of what is a new normal. We discussed Soriano's exile experience and how he had the enduring spirit of "Poco a poco sevaledjo!", and then his transcendent experience that allowed him to accept his circumstances and move on.
We continue to explore global distribution possibilities as well as accepting invitations to future opportunities for select screenings.
